Viking Ocean Cruises arrives for the first time in the port of Le Havre today with its ship, Viking Star. Captain Gulleik Svalastog welcomed representatives of the port's Cruise Club for a welcome ceremony and the presentation of commemorative plaques.
Valerie Conan of the Le Havre Cruise Club spoke about the exceptional virtues of Le Havre and emphasized that the city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the MUMA, Le Havre's emblematic museum, which has the largest Impressionist collection after the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, the historic museum and the seafront, with its beach activities, offer a wide and diverse range of shopping options.
After the ceremony, local visitors were offered a tour of the ship led by Assistant Cruise Director Adams Wood. They were impressed by the ship's excellent facilities, such as the infinity pool and the snow room in the spa.
The Viking Star is scheduled to visit Le Havre three times in 2016. Viking Ocean Cruises are also planned for 2017, a key year for Le Havre as it celebrates the 500th anniversary of the city's founding.
