Having just arrived at the port of Amsterdam, the Costa Fortuna, one of the ships in the Costa Cruises fleet, has recently started its summer season in Northern Europe.
Between June and August, the Costa Fortuna, a ship that emulates the luxurious Italian ocean liners of yesteryear, will offer its passengers the unique experience of discovering, over 9 or 14 days, spectacular locations along the North Sea and the Norwegian coast. Throughout their vacation, cruisers will experience a unique way of traveling, participating in activities that will immerse them in unexplored natural landscapes and leave them in awe.
On June 20 and July 22, the Costa Fortuna will depart from Amsterdam, its home port for this summer season, bound for Iceland, with an itinerary that also includes stops in Scotland and Denmark. For example, at its first stop in Invergordon, Scotland, passengers can sail on Loch Ness and explore the area's castles, immersing themselves in its history and legends. In Lerwick, Scotland, they can enjoy the impressive archaeology of the Shetland Islands. In Thornshavn, Denmark, they will experience the dramatic beauty of its fjords, cliffs, and caves from a speedboat, as well as admire the stunning Faroe Islands. Once they arrive in Reykjavik, Iceland, they can marvel at the power of the geothermal fields, waterfalls, and glaciers that dot the landscape, and kayak through the fjords during their stop in Ísafjord, Iceland. For the more adventurous, there's the option of exploring a lava cave, equipped with a helmet and flashlight, in Grundarfjordur, Iceland. And finally, for a truly unique souvenir of this trip, during your layover in Akureyiri, Iceland, you can fly to Grimsey Island, where you can set foot on the Arctic Circle and receive a certificate to prove it.
In addition to this cruise, called Legends of Iceland, the Costa Fortuna will offer its guests another itinerary called Flower of Norway, a nine-day journey through the stunning fjords and charming towns of Bergen, Hellesylt, Geiranger, Andalsnes, Olden, Flåm, and Stavanger before returning to its home port, Amsterdam. The dates for these cruises alternate: while Legends of Iceland departs on June 20 and July 22, Flower of Norway has already sailed on June 2 and 11 and will be repeated on July 4 and 13, and August 5, 14, and 23.
