The Costa Cruises shipping company, an ambassador of Italy around the world for 66 years, will celebrate Italian Republic Day on board its ships, all of which fly the Italian flag and are therefore Italian territory.
On May 31, during its stopover in Copenhagen, the 'Costa Luminosa' will host the reception organized by the Italian embassy in Denmark for Italy's national day.
The 'Costa Luminosa' will be in Copenhagen for its seven-day itinerary in the Norwegian Fjords, which begins right in the Danish capital, before visiting Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen, Olden and Andalsnes.
On June 2nd, Costa Cruises will celebrate the birth of the Italian Republic with its passengers aboard ships sailing the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, and Asia. They will be invited to raise their glasses to the strains of the Italian national anthem, which will be played on the decks of the Costa fleet.
THE NEW COSTA DIADEMA.
The strong ties between Costa Cruises and Italy will be further reinforced on November 7, 2014, with the christening in Genoa of the company's new flagship, the 'Costa Diadema'.
It is being built at the Fincantieri shipyards in Marghera (Venice), with a total investment of approximately €550 million. The project is employing around 1,000 shipyard workers, in addition to another 2,500 from associated industries.
The benefits in terms of employment go beyond the shipyard, especially in terms of fitting out the interiors of the ship, with the involvement of 400 contracted suppliers, many of them Italian firms.
The 'Costa Diadema' will be 'The Queen of the Mediterranean', with a special focus on Italy: in fact, it will be deployed in the Mediterranean (with weekly departures from Barcelona) and will visit five Italian ports during its inaugural month in November 2014: Trieste, Naples, Genoa, La Spezia and Savona.
