MedCruise and CLIA Europe sign an agreement for travel agent training

MedCruise continues its commitment to travel agents in Europe, taking a first step towards creating a successful travel agent platform.

CLIA Europe, the association representing the cruise industry worth over €40 billion, and MedCruise, the association of cruise ports in the Mediterranean and its adjacent seas, have signed a strategic partnership agreement to collaborate, sponsor and support the advancement of a European travel agent training program.

CLIA Europe will deliver research- and marketing-based training courses for travel agents to promote the advantages of the cruise industry to thousands of travel agencies and their members. This landmark agreement with MedCruise will allow the expansion of ETALP, CLIA's travel agent training program, to France, where thousands of travel agents will have access to CLIA's online training resources for this purpose.

Carla Salvadó, President of MedCruise, said: “This strategic agreement marks an important milestone in our relationship with MedCruise CLIA Europe. I am delighted that our partnerships will help train travel agents and give them the right tools to attract more people to the cruise sector in the Mediterranean and beyond. The partnership shows that in the port community, as well as in the cruise industry, we never lose sight of the fact that our success is directly linked to the travel agent community.”.

Pierfrancesco Vago, President of CLIA Europe, said: “The work of the travel agent community has played and will continue to play an essential role in the cruise industry supply chain, bringing our fantastic product closer to the end customer. We see agents as a vital link between travelers and cruise lines. They are our main advocates when it comes to communicating the excitement of a cruise vacation. This agreement plans to expand CLIA’s travel agent training program to a key European market, but it will not be the last. I am pleased that, by taking this step, CLIA Europe and MedCruise remain committed to investing in a sector of fundamental importance to our industry.”.
