It will return to the Port of Vigo on up to four other occasions throughout this year: June 15, July 27, September 16 and October 7.

The Port of Vigo received more than 5,000 people today, including passengers and crew, who arrived aboard the Britannia, on its inaugural stop.
Arriving from Lisbon, Portugal, the Britannia reached the Maritime Station at 8:00 a.m. and departed for Southampton, Great Britain, at approximately 5:30 p.m. During its stay in the city, it carried a total of 3,769 passengers (3,681 British) and 1,381 crew members.
On the occasion of the Britannia, the President of the Vigo Port Authority, Ignacio López-Chaves, and a large delegation of civil and military authorities, visited the P&O ship, where he participated, as is tradition, in the exchange of plaques with the ship's Captain, Paul Brown, after which the delegation visited the facilities of what is considered to be P&O's new flagship cruise ship.
Large dimensions
With a capacity for more than 3,600 passengers, the Britannia stands out, among other things, for its size. At 330 meters long, it is the largest cruise ship built for the British market and was christened on March 10th by Queen Elizabeth II.
This ship boasts the largest spa of any P&O vessel and has a total of 1,837 cabins. For the first time on a P&O cruise ship, all outside cabins have balconies. It also features four swimming pools, one of which is dedicated to teenagers, in addition to the renowned Spa Oasis.
Five planned stops
Following its April call, the Britannia will return to the Port of Vigo on four more occasions this year: June 15, July 27, September 16, and October 7. P&O's ships alone will bring more than 86,000 passengers to Vigo across a total of 30 calls, compared to the approximately 13,000 passengers recorded in 2014 during the six calls made by the shipping company's vessels this year.
The recovery in the volume of calls by Carnival UK ships, which brings together the P&O and Cunard fleet, has been the result of intense work carried out by the Port Authority in recent months, through several meetings with the decision-makers of the different shipping companies that are part of this group.
The discounts on fees and charges for cruise traffic applied in the Port of Vigo - already present in the past year - the improvements made to the cruise infrastructure in recent years, in addition to the quality and efficiency of the service that the modern and fully equipped Cruise Terminal has always provided, have made the stop of this giant of the sea possible.
This significant increase in Carnival UK passengers in Vigo is also due to the general trend in recent years of deploying large cruise ships in Vigo, thanks to the Port Authority's and the Cruise Terminal's strong commitment to safety. This is a vital aspect for cruise lines, as is the reliability and tranquility offered by the sheltered waters of the Vigo Estuary, which ensure the uninterrupted operation of these types of vessels 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
