The ship will make stops in the Balearic capital throughout the summer.
Barely a month after being chosen as the 'Best Ship in the Mediterranean' during the 2014 Excellence Cruise Awards ceremony in the same Balearic capital, Palma de Mallorca today welcomed, for the first time, MSC Preziosa from MSC Cruises, the leading cruise company in the Mediterranean.
Launched in 2013, MSC Preziosa is the newest ship in MSC Cruises' current fleet of 12 vessels and can accommodate up to 3,502 passengers (based on double occupancy). MSC Preziosa features a luxurious MSC Yacht Club, where guests enjoy 24-hour butler service, dedicated facilities and private decks, as well as exclusive access to all public areas, including the casino and Broadway Theatre. MSC Preziosa also boasts the MSC Aurea Spa, a beauty and wellness center, and dedicated children's play areas such as the "Doremi Castle"in the water park and "Vertigo," the longest water slide at sea.
The welcome ceremony held today at the Port of Palma was attended by representatives of the municipal and port authorities, as well as Emiliano González, Managing Director of MSC Cruises in Spain, who stated: “The arrival of MSC Preziosa is further proof of our firm commitment to the Spanish market in general and to the city and port of Palma de Mallorca in particular. In addition to this ship, MSC Cruises will also have the ships MSC Fantasia, MSC Divina, and MSC Armonia based in Palma de Mallorca throughout the summer season. The Armonia is the first ship in the fleet to have undergone the Renaissance Program, valued at €200 million, which involved a complete expansion and refurbishment of the vessel.”
For his part, the president of the Balearic Islands Port Authority, Alberto Pons, highlighted “the satisfaction that always comes with welcoming a new MSC ship to one of our ports. Seeing the family grow, as well as the confidence they place in our infrastructure and management, is extremely gratifying, while also committing us to continue striving for excellent service and the consolidation of a better destination.”
