A total of 11 cruise ships visited the port for the first time during 2014.
Yesterday, the cruise ship 'Mein Schiff 3', belonging to the shipping company 'TUI Cruises', visited the Port of Malaga for the first time, where it remained docked until 6:00 p.m., at which time it departed for its next destination: Agadir.
To mark this stopover, representatives from the Port Authority, the City Council of the capital, as well as the company Cruceros Málaga and the ship's agent, Intercruises, presented several commemorative plaques to the captain at a reception held on board.
Ship characteristics
The ship 'Mein Schiff 3', whose company is mainly dedicated to the German public, has a length of 293.2 meters and a maximum capacity to accommodate about 2,500 passengers and 1,000 crew members, in an exclusive setting that has the first maritime museum and the first chamber music hall incorporated into a cruise ship.
This ship, which just left the shipyard in June of this year, is the company's first to be considered newly built.
TUI Cruises chose Malaga as its destination four times in 2014, aboard the ships 'Mein Schiff 1' and 'Mein Schiff 3'. The cruise line plans to visit the Port of Malaga three more times next year.
First stops at the port
A total of 11 cruise ships, such as 'MSC Preziosa', 'Serenade of the Seas' or 'Voyager', have visited the Port of Malaga for the first time during 2014, with today's being the last one scheduled for this year.
It is worth highlighting the visits, during the current year, of two currently emblematic ships: the 'Oasis of the Seas', considered the largest cruise ship in the world, as well as the 'Disney Magic', which has meant a very important promotion for the port area in terms of security.
