Scenic Group is celebrating its 40th anniversary this October with commemorative events for travelers and partners from around the world, while also driving a program to expand its river and yacht fleet through 2028 and beyond.
This milestone coincides with preparations to incorporate new luxury ships from Scenic and Emerald Cruises in Europe, India and Southeast Asia, expand the Emerald Yacht Cruises fleet and launch the Scenic Ikon.
Glen Moroney, founder and chairman of Scenic Group, notes: “Since our beginnings in Australia in 1986, we have grown into a global tourism group with a presence on all seven continents. Throughout this growth, our vision has remained unchanged: to continually improve the way our travelers discover the world.”.
"Our customers' opinions drive innovation and guide our investments in new ships, destinations, and itineraries. Designing, building, owning, and operating our own fleet allows us to have greater control over the traveler experience and transform that feedback into new benchmarks in the luxury cruise segment.".
"This anniversary is an opportunity to thank our valued travelers, partners, crews, and teams around the world who have contributed to the success of Scenic Group. Looking ahead, we remain focused on delivering experiences that build upon everything we've learned over the past 40 years, with many more exciting projects on the horizon.".
A new era with unprecedented ships and destinations
Scenic Group's expansion program will strengthen its presence on the rivers of Europe, India and Southeast Asia, as well as in the global yacht cruise market.
In France, the Emerald Lumi will expand Emerald Cruises & Tours' Seine river cruise offerings in 2027. In Asia, Scenic will add new itineraries on the Hooghly River in India in 2027, and plans to add another ship to sail the Brahmaputra in 2028.
The Scenic Spirit II and Scenic Spirit III ships will also begin sailing the Mekong in 2028, further elevating the group's ultra-luxury offering in Southeast Asia.
The expansion of the luxury yacht fleet will include the Emerald Raiya in 2027 and the Emerald Xara in 2028. These additions will broaden Emerald Cruises' range of destinations, including the Seychelles.
The return of the Scenic Eclipse II to Asia-Pacific in 2028, along with the arrival of the Emerald Xara, will further strengthen the group's presence in this region.
The Scenic Ikon, meanwhile, will debut in the Mediterranean in April 2028 and will also include Antarctica in its inaugural season. Its launch will mark a new era for the Scenic Discovery Yachts collection of ultra-luxury exploration yachts.
Anniversary celebrations throughout October
Travelers sailing with Scenic and Emerald Cruises & Tours during October are enjoying special dining events, themed entertainment, and commemorative experiences.
Select sailings from the Scenic & Emerald Rewards loyalty program have also been scheduled for this anniversary month. These include the Scenic Discovery Yachts president's annual US voyage, with special events in Wilmington, Charleston, and Key West, and a Scenic river cruise along the Romantic Rhine and Moselle, including a land extension in Switzerland and an exclusive dinner in Lucerne hosted by Scenic Group management.
Tom Goetter, Vice President of Hotel Operations for the maritime division, says: "These moments allow us to share the Scenic Group story with our travelers and recognize the hard work, dedication, and attention to detail behind every trip.".

Scenic Group is experiencing a period of great momentum, and we look forward to applying everything we have learned over the past four decades to the next 40 years.”.
The anniversary promotion also offers travel advisors an opportunity to reconnect with existing Scenic and Emerald customers, as well as those considering their first river or yacht cruise.
