With AIDAperla and AIDAprima, the AIDA Evolution future initiative enters a new phase. AIDA Cruises is thus expanding the largest modernization program in the company's history to a new class of ships.
The program will begin with AIDAperla's stay at the Chantier Naval de Marseille shipyard in France, from April 3 to May 2, 2027. A year later, AIDAprima will follow in its footsteps, with an intervention planned from April 22 to May 21, 2028.
According to Steffi Heinicke, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience at AIDA Cruises, AIDA Evolution goes beyond simply modernizing the ships and aims to further enhance the vacation experience by combining established concepts with new offerings tailored to passenger expectations. AIDAperla and AIDAprima will feature new restaurants and bars, leisure spaces, and meeting areas for passengers of all ages.
Greater gastronomic variety
The culinary offerings will expand with the arrival, for the first time on AIDAperla and AIDAprima, of Best Burger @ Sea, which will feature a variety of burger options. On deck 7, East Fusion will offer a dining experience focused on Asian cuisine.
The concept, first introduced on board AIDAdiva in March 2025, includes a selection of Asian dishes and sushi and will now be expanded to include hot pot and the option of enjoying Korean barbecue prepared tableside. The Teppanyaki Asia Grill, where dishes are prepared in front of passengers, will also be available on this class of ships.
The bar offerings will also be revamped. The current photography space on Deck 7 will be transformed into a new Art Bar, featuring art gallery-inspired décor and a menu of cocktails, mixed drinks, and barista-style coffee.
On Deck 8, the Panorama Lounge & Bar will offer a new space to relax and enjoy the views, with signature cocktails and an exclusive afternoon tea experience. Meanwhile, the Spray Bar, located at the bow, will debut a new look, a large interactive LED screen, and a new entrance from the D6 nightclub.
Also on deck 8, the new Chilli Out Bar will bring Latin American flavors on board, with Mexican tacos, spicy snacks and fruit drinks.
More meeting spaces and new favorite spots
The Theatrium will also undergo a renovation. New furnishings and seating areas will create a more welcoming, lounge-like atmosphere in the heart of the ships.
Following the modernization, AIDA Plaza will offer more spaces to stroll, relax, and spend time, along with an expanded menu and more seating. The offerings will include options such as currywurst, tapas, and ice cream.
More comfort in cabins and suites
The cabins will feature new amenities to enhance comfort, including USB ports by the beds and new bathroom mirrors with nightlights. The suites, meanwhile, will debut a new color scheme.
The redistribution and optimization of different spaces will also allow for an expansion of accommodation options, with new interior, exterior and balcony cabins.
New experiences for all generations
AIDA Evolution will also introduce new features in its leisure and family areas. One of the main changes will be to the Four Elements activity deck, whose upper level will feature a new net structure for climbing, relaxing, and exploring. The current climbing course will be replaced by Fun Park Air, open to passengers of all ages.
Another new feature for this class of ships will be a mini-golf course on deck 16, located at one of the highest points for practicing this sport at sea.
The Kids Club will also be renovated and will feature an outdoor area for the first time on AIDAperla and AIDAprima. In addition, the Beach Club will incorporate a small play area for younger passengers, a concept first introduced on board AIDAluna in December 2025.
For teenagers, the Teens Lounge, located in the D6 nightclub, will become a new meeting place during the day, while the Game Center, on deck 15, will complete the entertainment offering with different gaming experiences.
First cruises after the renovation
Immediately after their respective stays in the shipyard, AIDAperla and AIDAprima will return to operation in the Mediterranean with their new look.
AIDAperla will embark on its first cruise after modernization on May 2, 2027, departing from and returning to Mallorca and lasting 10 days. The itinerary will include stops in Corsica, Sardinia, Naples, La Spezia, Rome/Civitavecchia, and Barcelona.
AIDAprima will make its first cruise after completing the AIDA Evolution program on May 21, 2028. It will be a seven-day circular itinerary from Mallorca, with stops in Marseille, Rome/Civitavecchia, La Spezia and Barcelona.
With the modernization of AIDAperla and AIDAprima, AIDA Evolution continues to expand into new generations of ships, reinforcing the company's long-term investment in its fleet and in the holiday experience of its passengers.
