Icelandair will resume direct flights between Madrid and Reykjavik from April 9, 2027, thus recovering a route that expands travel options between Spain and Iceland and facilitates access to the airline's extensive network of destinations in North America through its hub in Keflavík.
The new connection will initially operate two weekly flights, on Mondays and Fridays, between April 9 and May 17, 2027. From May 19 to October 25, the route will have three weekly flights, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Flights FI997, from Madrid to Reykjavik, and FI996, in the opposite direction, will have an approximate duration of 4 hours and 20 minutes.
The addition of Madrid to the Icelandair network will allow passengers not only to travel directly to Iceland, but also to take advantage of the airline's connections from Reykjavik to various destinations in the United States and Canada, offering new possibilities for combined and long-haul trips from Spain.
With this new route, Icelandair strengthens its presence in the Spanish market and expands opportunities for travel agencies, both in the marketing of trips to Iceland and in itineraries that combine the destination with North America.
The company will soon release more details on rates, commercial terms and sales support actions for travel agencies.
