HX Expeditions has unveiled its 2028/29 season, which includes 57 trips to 14 destinations around the world, with 26 new itineraries, two new destinations for the company and five major new additions to its offering.
Key additions include a new expedition to Antarctica and South Georgia, Antarctic departures from the Falkland Islands that reduce sailing time and allow for more exploration, new shorter voyages to Alaska and Greenland, HX's first dedicated program in Scandinavia, and a new circumnavigation of Baffin Island in the Canadian Arctic. The season combines new destinations and routes with greater flexibility, offering travelers more opportunities to discover both iconic expedition regions and less-visited areas of the planet.

Antarctica and South Georgia
Drawing on its more than 20 years of experience in Antarctica, HX is adding a new 19-day trip to Antarctica and South Georgia aboard the MS Roald Amundsen, offering a new way to experience two of the most sought-after polar destinations in a single expedition.
The season will also mark the start of HX's Antarctic departures from Stanley aboard the MS Fram. This makes the company the first major expedition operator in over a decade to use the Falkland Islands as a gateway to Antarctica. The new route to South Georgia and Antarctica will also allow for more time spent exploring each destination.
Alaska
HX is adding two new eight-day (seven-night) expeditions through the Inside Passage between Vancouver and Sitka, replacing the previous 10- and 13-day itineraries. The new offerings provide five full days in Southeast Alaska with only one day of sailing.
Travelers can combine northbound and southbound departures on a 15-day expedition between Vancouver and Vancouver without repeating any destinations. The program also expands with a new 17-day trip through the Aleutian Islands between Vancouver and Whittier.
Developed in collaboration with Indigenous communities, these itineraries further develop HX's community-based approach to exploring Alaska. Kake and Elfin Cove are added as new stops, while existing partnerships, including the one with Old Harbor Native Corporation, will continue to offer opportunities for cultural exchange and access to less-visited bays, fjords, and wilderness areas.
Greenland
A new eight-day (seven-night) itinerary, Discovering West Greenland – Icebergs & Communities of Disko Bay, will sail round-trip from Nuuk. With no sailing days, the trip combines some of Greenland's top attractions into a single week-long expedition, including Disko Bay, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ilulissat Icefjord, and remote Inuit communities such as Kangaamiut and Maniitsoq.
The season also includes a new 11-day version of Exploring the Garden of Greenland, offering greater flexibility to discover the destination. Together with the 15-day expeditions that HX already offers in Greenland, these new options make up the company's most flexible program in the territory to date, with choices ranging from one week to more than two weeks and covering different regions of the world's largest island.
Scandinavia
After more than 130 years of experience exploring Scandinavia, HX will launch its first program specifically dedicated to the region aboard the MS Spitsbergen.
Among its main new offerings is Sweden & Finland: Autumn in the Gulf of Bothnia, a 13-day itinerary available in both north and south directions, marking HX's first forays into the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Bothnia.
The program also includes Southern Scandinavia: Between Norwegian Fjords and Swedish Isles, a 10-day trip available in both directions, and Norway Cape to Cape – Beyond the Arctic Circle, a 14-day trip.
Taken together, these trips expand HX's expedition concept to Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway, with a tour of coastal communities, archipelagos, fjords and Arctic landscapes.
Canadian Arctic
One of the main new features of the season will be the new 19-day itinerary Into the Northwest Passage – Circumnavigating Baffin Island, aboard the MS Roald Amundsen.
The voyage includes a complete circumnavigation of Baffin Island, entry into the Northwest Passage, and an attempt to pass through Fury and Hecla Strait, a route rarely navigated by expedition vessels.
The proposal combines Arctic landscapes with Inuit culture and history, including visits to communities like Qikiqtarjuaq and Kinngait, considered the capital of Inuit art. The result is one of the most comprehensive explorations of Baffin Island undertaken to date by HX.
Svalbard
With 23 departures that will include Svalbard in 2028, HX will operate its most extensive program to date in this archipelago, from the midnight sun season to the return of the Northern Lights.
The program will feature HX's usual Svalbard itineraries aboard MS Spitsbergen and MS Fram, plus the return of Arctic Islands Discovery, which connects Svalbard, East Greenland and Iceland.
Ocean crossings
The season also incorporates nine new Ocean Crossing voyages across the Atlantic and Pacific, turning traditional repositioning crossings into standalone experiences.
The new routes cover a wide variety of destinations, from Bermuda, Cape Verde, Salvador and Recife on the Atlantic coast, to Golfito, Huatulco and La Paz on the Pacific coast.
Several of these voyages will cross the equator, taking travelers between the northern and southern hemispheres. New additions also include a route to Seville via the Guadalquivir River, as well as itineraries connecting some of the Pacific's premier expedition regions.
Galapagos Islands
HX maintains its year-round program in the Galapagos Islands aboard the Santa Cruz II.
The season includes the company's established itineraries, such as In Darwin's Footsteps and Nine of the Best Isles, as well as trip extensions that incorporate Machu Picchu.
With small groups and accompanied by local guides, these expeditions allow you to get close to the unique fauna of the archipelago, from giant tortoises and marine iguanas to blue-footed boobies and sea lions.
