Fincantieri and Viking have announced the signing of contracts for the construction of two new cruise ships, following the exercise of the options granted and announced in April 2025.
The new ships will be based on the successful features of the units previously built by Fincantieri for Viking at its Italian shipyards. The two new cruisers will be built at Fincantieri's shipyard in Ancona and are scheduled for delivery in [year missing] 2032.
The value of the agreement, subject to financing and other conditions usual in this type of operation, is considered by Fincantieri as a large volume contract, a category that the Italian builder applies to cruise agreements with a value of between 500 million and 1,000 million euros.
The new ships will join the small cruise ship segment. They will have a gross tonnage of approximately 54,300 and a capacity for 998 passengers in 499 cabins .
The units will be built in accordance with the latest environmental and navigation regulations and will be equipped with the most advanced safety systems.
Viking continues to expand its fleet
This new order adds to the contracts announced earlier this year for the construction of two new expedition ships for Viking, confirming the company's strong fleet expansion pace and the continuation of its shipbuilding plans with Fincantieri.
Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and managing director of Fincantieri, highlighted the importance of the transaction for the relationship between the two companies:

Folgiero added that the allocation of these new constructions to the Ancona shipyard reinforces its strategic role, helps maintain high-value local employment and guarantees the long-term industrial continuity of the supply chain, while Fincantieri continues working on the future of sustainable cruises.
With this latest order, the relationship between Fincantieri and Viking now reaches a total of 28 ships, consolidating one of the most important collaborations of the Italian shipbuilder in the cruise sector.
