Carnival Cruise Line celebrated a major milestone today with the traditional steel-cutting ceremony for its newest ship, Carnival Destiny, which will enter service in the summer of 2029 as the first of three ships in its next-generation line, officially named the Ace Class. The event, held at the Fincantieri, also served to reveal the ship's name and unveil a 3D hologram that offered a first glimpse into the future of Carnival cruising.
The new Carnival Destiny will introduce a completely different way to experience the ocean from the ship, becoming the most ocean-open megaship ever built by the company. It will feature an unprecedented number of balcony staterooms with ocean views, a lanai , and over 1.8 hectares of glass surfaces, including enormous multi-deck-high glass walls that will extend panoramic views throughout the entire ship. The goal is for passengers to be able to enjoy the ocean from many more spaces on board and maintain a constant visual connection with the sea.
The ship will also represent a significant evolution in the onboard experience. More than 70% of its spaces and attractions will be entirely new concepts for Carnival, with revamped dining options, next-generation bars and lounges, immersive entertainment, and expansive outdoor areas designed for greater guest interaction.
“Carnival Destiny continues a legacy that once transformed cruising and reimagines what guests can experience at sea,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “With this ship, we are once again elevating the guest experience, creating a vessel that feels more spacious, more connected to the ocean, and ultimately, more fun.”
The Carnival Destiny will sail to destinations included in the Paradise Collection by Carnival , the largest portfolio of exclusive Caribbean, Bahamas, and Mexican destinations in the cruise industry. The company will announce more details about its onboard amenities and experiences throughout this year, while the ship is scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2029. Two more Ace -class ships are also planned for 2031 and 2033 .
