AIDA Cruises is about to successfully complete its second major shipyard project within the AIDA Evolution with AIDAluna.
Five more Selection-class ships will be modernized by 2028. Next up will be AIDAbella (January to March 2026) and, just in time for Christmas 2026, AIDAmar will also get a makeover.

This reaffirms our commitment to our smaller ships and prepares them for the future, both in terms of travel experience and technical innovations and sustainability. The new AIDA experience aboard AIDAluna
After spending time at the French shipyard Chantier Naval from October 23 to December 8, 2025, AIDAluna is ready for its maiden voyage with guests and is fresher, more modern, and more inspiring than ever. Many of the new features are based on valuable passenger feedback. Key improvements include:
Cabins and suites
- All cabins have been renovated with a modern color palette, quality furnishings, USB and USB-C ports, sensor night lighting, and new balcony furniture.
- Completely renovated suites with premium materials.
- New aft suites: large private deck, new master bathroom and capacity for up to five guests.
Gastronomy
- 10 restaurants and snack stands, including the new ones: French Kiss, East Fusion, Tapas & Bar and the Yacht Club.
- 13 bars and cafes, including the new Lanai Bar, French Kiss Bar & Bistro and the Panorama Bar with signature cocktails and afternoon tea.
Entertainment and family
- Theatrium modernized with AIDAluna's iconic design, new seats and state-of-the-art sound and lighting technology.
- New Fun Park with climbing tower, redesigned Kids Club and Game Center.
- New play area for the little ones next to the Time Out Bar.
Spa & Wellness

Two new wellness suites, an elegant Nail Spa and a completely renovated Hair Spa.
Exclusive areas

Suite guests enjoy a new Suite Lounge next to the Rossini and the new Sky Deck with two jacuzzis, lounge furniture and private cabanas.

Interactive screens in public areas and RFID boarding passes for a smarter experience.
The crew areas were also modernized: a renovated bar, redesigned cabins with USB ports, and a new “Crew Market” with snacks available 24 hours a day.
For the first time, AIDA Cruises and Oceancircle have installed fully recycled carpet underlays on the AIDAluna. The “Green Guard Underlay” was made from vintage carpets from the AIDAdiva and AIDAluna. In addition, sun loungers, balcony chairs, and side tables were collected for recycling. A 100% recyclable, allergy-friendly floor was also installed in the crew and reception area, made with Aquafil ECONYL® yarn and manufactured by Radici. Its design allows for complete dismantling and future recycling. Even the dismantled steel bulkheads from Pier 3 Bar will have a new life: the Paul Hewitt brand will transform them into maritime-inspired jewelry, soon to be available on board.
AIDAluna incorporates new technological measures:
- Tests of three types of transparent solar films on the pool cover.
- New, more efficient reverse osmosis system for producing drinking water.
- Energy-efficient LED lighting.
- Biocide-free underwater coating to reduce friction and fuel consumption.
- New box coolers to optimize cooling.
- Air conditioning optimization according to demand.
- 12.5 km of fiber optic cable and 28 km of cabling to modernize the IT infrastructure.
Inaugural voyage and upcoming itineraries
On December 10, 2025, AIDAluna sets sail on its renewed inaugural voyage: “Fall in love with AIDAluna again”, a 5-day route through Côte Bleue & Costa Brava from Palma de Mallorca to Marseille, Palamós and Barcelona.
Models and artists such as Franziska Knuppe, Max Mutzke, and Mirja Boes will be present for the reopening. Afterward, the ship will sail the Western Mediterranean, including Christmas and New Year's voyages to Spain, Italy, and Gibraltar. From January 5, 2026, AIDAluna will head to the Canary Islands, combining routes with Madeira or Morocco during the winter.
