Century Cruises has unveiled the Century Star, the newest addition to its global fleet, as it prepares to sail the Danube River. This is the company's first ship in Europe and is scheduled to make its maiden voyage on September 18, 2026.
David Fredericks, President and CEO of Century Cruises in the Americas, said of the new vessel: “Century Star, the first of many ships planned for the Danube and Rhine, is a testament to the vision our Chairman Jianhu Peng established 30 years ago on the banks of the Yangtze River. Thanks to dedication and hard work, we have reached the heart of Europe, and we are incredibly proud. This is where Eastern elegance and hospitality meet Western style, on the Danube.”
Fredericks added that, although Century Star 's debut will be in September of next year on the Danube, a Rhine itinerary is already scheduled to depart on November 6, 2026, and a Nile cruise will become a reality in 2027.
The new ship joins the company's environmentally committed fleet, as it features hybrid propulsion, a hull made from recycled steel and full compliance with EU sustainability standards, aimed at achieving net-zero emissions performance.
After building four eco-friendly ships in four years — with international accolades along the way — Century Cruises' pursuit of excellence has naturally led to its expansion in Europe.
Measuring 134.99 meters in length, the ship will feature 78 luxury cabins for 174 guests, offering an intimate and refined river cruise experience on the Danube. The vessel is the result of a true global collaboration: Chinese vision combined with Western craftsmanship, all executed with an exceptional level of quality.
The hull of Century Star was designed by Concordia Damen Shipbuilding, whose contemporary style allows the ship to blend harmoniously into the timeless landscapes of the Danube.

The inaugural Blue Danube Cruise begins in Budapest, the Pearl of the Danube, and continues to highlights including Esztergom, Bratislava, Vienna—the renowned City of Music—as well as Linz and Passau. This eight-day voyage features immersive local experiences, with transfers from the port to points of interest on Century Cruises' exclusive coaches.
