Royal Caribbean is taking its Artist Discovery Program from the ship to land with the latest selection of artists who will be featured at the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, the first beach club of its kind, scheduled to open in December 2025.
As part of the program, the company has selected 11 local artists from the Bahamas who will create works of art in 25 different spaces of the first beach club in the Royal Beach Club collection, combining the beauty and spirit of the Bahamas with all-inclusive experiences to bring the ultimate beach day to life.
Combining Royal Caribbean's exclusive experiences with authentic Bahamian culture and spirit, the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island will offer the best possible beach experience in December 2025.
The Artist Discovery Program, originally launched aboard Icon of the Seas, seeks out emerging artists in the destinations the company visits, aiming to highlight the culture and people of each region. The next editions of the program in the Caribbean will take place on Star of the Seas and at Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in December 2025, inviting artists to showcase their work to millions of travelers.
The world's largest underwater bar, The Floating Flamingo, will be the place where travelers can keep the party going all day at the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island. With DJ music, dancing, tropical cocktails, a VIP section, and much more, it promises to be the heart of the party atmosphere at Party Cove.
“We couldn’t be more excited to introduce the Artist Discovery Program roster for Royal Beach Club Paradise Island: a group of local creators with a true passion for their art and their home, the Bahamas,” said Philip Simon, President of Royal Caribbean Group Bahamas. “Bahamian culture is vibrant and dynamic, and the works created by these artists will reflect the energy and colorful landscape of the Bahamas throughout the destination.”.
The program was designed to offer emerging local artists the opportunity to showcase their art to a global audience. Through it, artists received grants of varying amounts to create special works—such as large-scale murals and expressive sculptures—that will be exhibited throughout the island.
The art at Royal Beach Club Paradise Island will revolve around three main themes:
- Underwater Adventures: will highlight the rich marine life of the Bahamas.
- Junkanoo Festival: will celebrate the musical, dance and festive traditions of the Bahamian people.
- Bahamian Happiness: will express tranquility, escapism and relaxation.
Among the main works are a vibrant 6.7-meter-high mural inspired by Junkanoo, created by visual artist Allan Wallace, and a piece inspired by vintage postcards that welcomes travelers to “Paradise” on Paradise Island, made by portrait artist Deldra Sands.
Other featured artists in the program:
- Minolta Butler: She will create murals in three locations throughout the club, reflecting the vibrant energy and colors of the Bahamas. Internationally renowned, she works with both traditional techniques (drawing, painting, illustration) and unconventional ones (such as coffee or wine).
- June Collie: She will design one of the four large flamingo sculptures to be placed at the club, in honor of the national bird. Her work explores themes of family, femininity, and the joys of Caribbean life.
- Preston Hanna: He will create a flamingo sculpture with a bold, modern style, representing the cultural evolution of the Bahamas through intense colors and distinctive strokes.
- Amaani Hepburn: She will paint a colorful mural inspired by her personal experiences and the relationship between the Caribbean's natural environment and its people.
- Chaavanté Newton: He will decorate two of the club's bars with vibrant murals, characterized by intense colors and fluid compositions.
- John Paul: He will create two striking murals that combine color theory and large brushstroke techniques, inspired by the tropical landscapes of the Bahamas.
- Deldra Sands: In addition to the welcome mural, she will design a flamingo sculpture. Her art reflects her connection to nature and the faces of the Bahamas.
- Lamaro Smith: He will create three immersive murals that will reflect the colors and natural beauty of his country, while also fostering the Bahamian artist community.
- Edrin Symonette: He will paint murals at various points on the island, celebrating the natural and cultural identity of the Bahamas through colors, textures, and shapes.
- Allan Wallace: His large entrance mural will capture the spirit and energy of the Bahamas. A self-taught artist, his work ranges from murals to live performances and fine art.
- Angelika Wallace-Whitfield: With large-format murals and colorful flamingo sculptures, her work will be present throughout the club, inspired by the flora, colors and joy of Junkanoo.
The Royal Beach Club Paradise Island will be a space where exclusivity meets all-inclusive, divided into three zones with three different atmospheres:
- Party Cove, for those looking for a party;
- Chill Beach, for relaxing;
- Family Beach, ideal for families.
Whether relaxing on Chill Beach, dancing to the DJ at The Floating Flamingo, or playing with the kids on Family Beach, there will be something for everyone throughout the day.
