PortCastelló will close out 2025 with a record number of cruise ship arrivals and guarantees premium port calls for the next two years. A total of 3,486 cruise passengers and 2,620 crew members have visited Castellón this year aboard one of the ten cruise ship calls, two of which were in Peñíscola. This upward trend is expected to continue over the next two years, as sixteen cruises are already scheduled for 2026 and 2027.
The president of the Port Authority, Rubén Ibáñez, has given a “very positive” assessment of the data, which “are the result of a well-developed strategy, in collaboration with the PortCastelló Foundation, and reflect the success of the Port of Castellón’s firm commitment to the luxury cruise segment.”.
“This is about sowing seeds. PortCastelló has raised its hand and said that it is here, that it wants to play in this league and that it will continue to do so in the coming years,” Ibáñez assured.
The head of the Port Authority explained that "to date there are eight confirmed cruise ship call requests for 2026 and another eight for 2027.".
Likewise, regarding the profile of cruise passengers who stop in Castellón, Rubén Ibáñez recalled that "we have specialized in an exclusive target market, with high purchasing power and experience in the world of cruises, who seek to live experiences away from the overcrowding of tourist destinations normally offered on cruises.".
“We are a port of experiences. We have a unique territory and offer one-of-a-kind things, and this exclusivity is what sets us apart,” he affirmed. “We will continue to strengthen our collaboration with the Castellón City Council, the Provincial Tourism Board, and other institutions, since coordination and combined efforts are the key to success in fitting all the pieces of the puzzle together and consolidating Castellón's position on the international cruise map,” asserted the head of PortCastelló.
