Princess's highly anticipated second Sphere-class ship, Star Princess, currently under construction by Fincantieri, has reached a significant milestone with the successful completion of its sea trials. The ship is on track to welcome its first passengers on October 4, 2025, sailing the Mediterranean from Barcelona.
During these final sea trials, from August 9 to 12, the Star Princess sailed from the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, to the Adriatic Sea, where it completed a comprehensive series of tests, including steering, navigation, and propulsion systems. As the second ship in the Princess fleet powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the Star Princess represents a significant step forward in emissions reduction.
To optimize both energy efficiency and maneuverability, the vessel is equipped with two Azipod propulsion units, which provide 360-degree thrust both forward and in reverse, along with four large controllable-pitch bow thrusters, which allow for precise lateral movement.
Star Princess Captain Gennaro Arma , with 27 years of experience at Princess and leader of the Sphere-class construction team, oversaw the sea trials. He now leads a dedicated crew of 1,600 as the ship enters its final outfitting phase.

Currently in its final phase of construction at Fincantieri, the Star Princess, sister ship to the award-winning Sun Princess, will feature 30 distinct restaurants and bars, entertainment, elevated activities, and luxurious accommodations, including Sanctuary Collection suites, mini-suites, and balcony staterooms, each offering a private retreat with exclusive amenities, spaces, and lounges.
With over 1,500 balcony staterooms, passengers can enjoy panoramic views from the privacy of their rooms.
