After two years at the helm of NCL and a long previous career with the company, David Herrera is stepping down as chairman, a position that will be temporarily filled by Harry Sommer, chairman and CEO of the NCLH group.
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has begun the search for a leading executive to assume the presidency of the NCL brand, while Sommer offered a few words about Herrera: “David Herrera has been a dedicated member of our management team, and we are grateful for his decade of contributions to NCL’s growth and success. We wish him all the best in this new professional chapter.”
He added: “In line with our strategic evolution and focus on our 2026 Strategy and Roadmap and objectives, NCL is entering a transformative chapter in its 60-year history, one that will elevate the guest experience even further. Marked by seven next-generation ships on order, significant upgrades underway at Great Stirrup Cay, the largest private island in the Caribbean, and an expanded Caribbean presence, the brand is well-positioned for significant growth.”
