Cunard welcomed Her Royal Highness Princess Anne aboard the Queen Anne during her visit to Liverpool on May 27. Liverpool holds a special place in the shipping company's history, as it was the starting point of Cunard's first transatlantic crossing 185 years ago in May 1840. It was also the company's headquarters for 128 years. The city was named the Queen Anne's godmother for the first time in the world during a historic christening ceremony at Liverpool's iconic dock last May.
Her Royal Highness joined city representatives, crew members and guests in the Queens Room, as well as members of the Cunard Women Officers Network, an inspiring group of women from various maritime and hospitality sectors.
Katie McAlister, Cunard's chairwoman, said: “Liverpool is not just where Cunard was founded, it's where our story began. This great city, with its proud maritime history and strong sense of identity, has shaped Cunard from the very beginning. The docks, the river, and the people of Liverpool are part of our heritage and remain fundamental to who we are today.”

The visit coincided with Sea of Glamour, a special exhibition curated by Mary McCartney, which presents 184 images of Cunard's past and present, defined by the heritage of pioneering transatlantic travel with Cunard's first Atlantic crossing that sailed from Liverpool in 1840.
