Holland America Line 's Oosterdam has revealed significant upgrades and renovations to its staterooms and public spaces. The ship spent the last two weeks in dry dock in the Bahamas and is now crossing the Atlantic Ocean to prepare for its Mediterranean season.
The improvements include technical and interior design upgrades in several public areas, a new Effy jewelry retail space , and an expansion of the casino. Various common areas received new furnishings, and additional renovations were made to the Crow's Nest, Greenhouse Spa & Salon, Gallery and Photo Studio, and the exclusive Neptune Lounge for suite guests.
During the shipyard refurbishment, new carpeting was installed in all suites, balcony staterooms, and several public areas, including the Atrium, the Gallery and Photo Studio, the Rolling Stone Lounge, and the Greenhouse Spa & Salon. Some stateroom bathrooms were completely renovated, and several balconies now feature new patio furniture. The Rolling Stone Lounge was fully updated with an upgraded bar, new carpeting, furnishings, LED lighting, and new flooring. The Lido Market was also renovated with new tiles and countertops, and both it and the Canaletto restaurant now feature new upholstery on their seats.
In the Sea View aft pool area, guests can relax in new luxury Jacuzzis surrounded by refurbished teak decks. Both the Sea View and Lido pools have received a new resin coating, giving them a cleaner appearance.
The Greenhouse Spa & Salon at the Oosterdam now features a new co-ed sauna and a couples massage room. The Thermal Suite has been rebuilt and includes a new laconium, steam room, and a rain shower experience. The relaxation lounge has been renovated with a new beverage area and updated furniture layout. The Beauty Salon has also been expanded with new manicure stations and pedicure chairs. In addition, improvements have been made to the spa and lounge facilities for guests with disabilities. The Fitness Center has also been updated with new gym equipment and flooring.
The Crow's Nest at the Oosterdam has undergone a significant transformation and now includes a renovated Arts Studio, a games room, and a puzzle area. The space features new furnishings in each section, a display case of board games, and updated signage to guide guests through the revamped Crow's Nest.
Guests staying in suites with access to the Neptune Lounge will enjoy upgrades including new carpeting, curtains, lighting fixtures, and refreshed dining and lounge furniture. The catering area has also been renovated, and a new concierge desk has been installed, enhancing the welcome experience.
One of the most notable projects was the expansion of the casino. The former Gallery Bar is now part of the casino, featuring 34 new slot machines and a digital gaming table.
The improvements to the Photo Studio and Gallery include new carpeting, signage, and lighting for private sessions. The renovated photo gallery now features display areas and a digital facial recognition system so guests can view their photos through their account.
A new Effy Lounge and retail store was also installed, replacing a small cinema room with a jewelry shopping experience. The new space features two distinct areas for guests to explore.
The Oosterdam will spend the next seven months sailing the Mediterranean, visiting ports in Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt and more, before crossing the Atlantic again in November and returning to South America and Antarctica.
