MSC Cruises has inaugurated its highly anticipated new flagship, the MSC World America, in an exciting ceremony at the new and state-of-the-art MSC Miami Cruise Terminal. The event culminated with godmother Drew Barrymore inaugurating the ship with the traditional ribbon-cutting and breaking of a bottle at the bow, an act symbolizing good fortune for the ship and its future voyages. The ceremony also featured Orlando Bloom, who co-starred with Drew in MSC Cruises' 'Let's Holiday' campaign, which premiered during the biggest sporting event in the United States earlier this year.

The inaugural celebration, in addition to appearances by Marc Anthony, Orlando Bloom, Gloria Estefan, and Drew Barrymore, featured spectacular live entertainment and multiple onboard events that highlighted everything the innovative and cutting-edge cruise ship has to offer. Guests enjoyed an elegant gala dinner, accompanied by exceptional performances, culminating in a breathtaking drone show and fireworks display illuminating the Miami skyline. A Gloria Estefan concert at the main pool closed the inaugural festivities.
The new, ultramodern flagship is the second World Class ship from MSC Cruises, incorporating innovative spaces, state-of-the-art entertainment and revamped dining concepts, combining MSC Cruises' signature elegant European design with North American style.
MSC World America is also the first ship in the MSC Cruises fleet to feature seven districts on board, each with its own atmosphere, facilities and experiences, designed to help passengers choose their own vacation experience.
The inaugural ceremony culminated in a three-night voyage to MSC Cruises' spectacular private island in the Bahamas, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. During their stay on the island, the MSC Foundation inaugurated its new Marine Conservation Center. This facility will become a hub for scientists and students participating in the MSC Foundation's Super Coral Reefs Program, as well as a space where passengers can learn more about the program's mission to restore coral reefs impacted by climate change. Guests also enjoyed an evening light show at the Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve lighthouse and a white party on the beach.
MSC World America sets sail for its maiden voyage on April 12, 2025, and will spend its inaugural season sailing from PortMiami, offering alternating 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries with stops in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; Roatán Island, Honduras; and all
MSC World America has 22 decks, is 47 meters wide, has 2,614 cabins, a Yacht Club and more than 40,000 square meters of public space for the enjoyment of all its guests.
