Frank A. Del Rio is leaving Oceania Cruises with immediate effect after two years as president, thus ending a long career with the company. This marks the first time since the company's founding in 2003 that no family member will be involved.
Jason Montague, who recently returned to Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings in a new role as chief luxury officer overseeing Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, will assume day-to-day oversight of both brands. This includes Regent, as its president, Andrea DeMarco, will also be stepping down, as previously announced.
Montague has been associated with Oceania Cruises since its inception, having been involved in developing the business plan alongside the Del Rio family and having served as president and chief operating officer of Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and most recently as president and chief executive officer of Regent until January 2023. Previously, he worked at NCLH to integrate Prestige Cruises International, the parent company of Oceania and Regent, following its acquisition, and prior to that, he was chief financial officer of Prestige and vice president and treasurer of Oceania between 2004 and 2008.
“Both Frank and his father, the founder of our company, have left a lasting legacy at Oceania Cruises and throughout the industry,” Montague said in a statement. “I want to personally thank Frank for his outstanding management of the brand, which has positioned it for an incredibly bright future, and for assembling an exceptional leadership team. We wish him all the best in his next chapter.”.
Before assuming the presidency of Oceania Cruises, Frank A. Del Rio served as director of sales and marketing, continuing a 14-year career with the brand. His first position at Oceania Cruises, in 2003, was director of destination services, after which he rose to vice president of destination services and product development. When Prestige Cruises International was created, he became SVP of port and destination services for both brands. Following NCLH's acquisition of Prestige, he served as SVP of destination services and onboard revenue until April 2017. He then worked as an entrepreneur in private equity, finance, and technology before returning to Oceania Cruises in 2022.
“Growing up in Miami, the cruise capital of the world, and with my father in the industry, I was always very interested in this sector,” he explained at the time.
