Wind Surf, Windstar Cruises ' flagship vessel , unveils its latest transformation project, focused on the yacht's common areas and suites. The upgrades to this 342-passenger sailing ship debut during the peak Caribbean sailing season, with itineraries including the Classic Caribbean and Beach Fun & Sun: a remote Caribbean getaway.
Among the highlights of the renovation are the complete refurbishment of the lobby and reception area, the Yacht Club Café, the Compass Rose Bar and Lounge, the Amphora restaurant and wine room, the bar and pool deck, the Owner's Suite, the Star boutique, the public restrooms, and the installation of new televisions in all guest rooms.
“Wind Surf has always been a favorite with our guests, and this refurbishment honors its legacy while elevating the onboard experience to new heights,” said Stijn Creupelandt, Chief Operating Officer of Windstar Cruises. “From refreshed design elements to modern technological enhancements, this transformation marks the beginning of an unforgettable journey on our flagship yacht.”
Joining the all-suite Star Class yacht fleet, the Wind Surf's refurbishment also includes the addition of the new Broadmoor and Sea Island Suites, inspired by the luxurious five-star resorts The Broadmoor in Colorado and Sea Island in Georgia. The Sea Island Suite features coastal touches and a light ambiance reminiscent of Addison Mizner's design for the resort. The Broadmoor Suite offers a more traditional space, with classic furnishings, floral motifs, sweeping moldings, and white details with gold accents. Its striking wallpaper is an exact replica of that used in The Broadmoor's main building, designed by Julie Penrose, wife of the resort's founder, Spencer Penrose.
In the final phase of the renovation, the Wind Surf's guest rooms will receive new furniture, textiles, and décor. The second phase will also include upgrades to the Stella Bistro restaurant, the Veranda, and the fitness studio. The entire project is expected to be completed by December 2026.
All three of Windstar's Wind Class sailboats (Wind Surf, Wind Star, and Wind Spirit) are undergoing refurbishments and upgrades as part of a multi-year initiative. In addition to Wind Surf, Wind Star has already completed Phase 1 of its upgrades, with Phase 2 scheduled for April 2026. For Wind Spirit, Phase 1 will take place in April 2026 and Phase 2 in March 2027.
