Regent Seven Seas Cruises has just begun construction of the Seven Seas Prestige™ - a ship that redefines luxury - with the steel-cutting ceremony held at the Fincantieri-Marghera shipyard in Venice, Italy.
The classic steel-cutting ceremony for the Seven Seas Prestige marks a new and challenging chapter in the history of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, initiating the company's next generation of ultra-luxury ships.
“The Seven Seas Prestige represents a new era for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, as we once again raise the bar for ultra-luxury all-inclusive vacations,” said Andrea DeMarco, President of Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “We are thrilled to continue our long-standing relationship with Fincantieri, a legendary name in shipbuilding. This talented team will deliver a ship that transcends luxury, exuding elegance and refinement, while radiating sophistication in every detail, from bow to stern.”
“We are proud to partner with Regent Seven Seas Cruises on what will be a revolutionary ship for the ultra-luxury cruise industry,” stated Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager of Fincantieri’s Commercial Vessels Division. “With our long history of building world-class vessels and Regent’s legacy of delivering unparalleled luxury travel experiences, we are excited to begin work on the Seven Seas Prestige.”
In addition to Andrea DeMarco, President of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, those present at the ceremony included Harry Sommer, President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.; Patrik Dahlgren, Executive Vice President of Ship Operations of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.; Francesco Semeraro, Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations of Regent Seven Seas Cruises; and Alberico Trivellone, Senior Vice President of New Construction and Refurbishments of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.
Representing Fincantieri were Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager of Fincantieri's Commercial Vessels Division, and Marco Lunardi, Director of the Marghera Shipyard.
Built by legendary shipbuilder Fincantieri, the Seven Seas Prestige will boast one of the highest space-to-passenger ratios in the cruise industry, with a gross tonnage of 77,000 and capacity for up to just 850 guests. With more Unrivaled Space at Sea® than ever before, the ship will feature groundbreaking innovations to be announced soon, including a reimagined Regent Suite, new accommodation categories, new culinary experiences, and more. These new features further enhance the Most Inclusive Luxury Experience® for which Regent is renowned.
With delivery scheduled for 2026, the ship will be the first of two Prestige Class vessels, Regent's first new class of ships in 10 years, following the successful launch of the Explorer Class ships in 2016, 2020 and 2023, also built by Fincantieri.
In the words of Juan Rodero, General Manager of Un Mundo de Cruceros, Regent's exclusive sales agent in Spain, "the arrival of the Seven Seas Prestige will be an added attraction for Regent's already very loyal customers, who appreciate the brand's classic yet contemporary luxury and its enormous space-per-passenger ratio."
Sailing to more than 550 destinations worldwide, the cruise line offers a wide range of luxuries for guests to enjoy a pampered trip with unlimited shore excursions, gourmet cuisine in specialty restaurants and outdoor spaces, high-end wines and spirits also available in the suite and minibar replenished daily, entertainment, access to spa facilities, unlimited WiFi, laundry and dry cleaning service, gratuities and a pre-cruise hotel night for concierge and above, all included in the cruise fare.
