Lindblad Expeditions has launched a series of new Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic charter trips through the Upper Amazon and Peru aboard the Delfin III, a ship with 42 cabins and suites.
Built locally and sustainably furnished, Delfín III features handcrafted furniture, art, and textiles from surrounding communities. It was designed to highlight the region's nature and culture, as well as the flavors of the Peruvian Amazon. Onboard, when not relaxing in one of the 21 glass-enclosed suites, guests of Delfín III can unwind on the observation deck with its outdoor whirlpool jacuzzi, attend a presentation by local naturalists and experts in the spacious, air-conditioned lounge, or enjoy a Pisco Sour or other cocktails made with unique regional ingredients and spirits at the bar.
The Delfín III also features a spa and a gym, as well as a star menu based on locally inspired dishes and regional delicacies.
From January 2026, the ship will join its sister ship Delfín II and sail two new itineraries, which include:
Upper Amazon: A River Expedition (Six Days)
Guests will embark on a journey to the source of the Amazon in the Peruvian rainforest, navigating winding jungle waterways while exploring the seasonally flooded forest of the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve in the Amazon with a team of experienced naturalists; they will meet the welcoming natives of the reserve, and learn about their ways of life along the river and Amazonian wildlife, such as pink river dolphins, saki monkeys, and piranhas, while receiving photographic tips from a Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic certified photography instructor on each trip; and much more in the course of just six adventure-filled days.
Escape to wild Peru: Amazon and Machu Picchu (10 days)
The new "Wild Peru Escape: Amazon and Machu Picchu" expedition has been designed to showcase the very best of Peru. This 10-day itinerary offers Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic guests all the excitement of the six-day "Upper Amazon: A River Expedition," along with several additional days exploring UNESCO World Heritage sites in Lima, two full days at Machu Picchu with one full day exploring the iconic sanctuary, and one night in Cusco, the imperial capital of the Incas.
Delfín III is the sister ship of Delfín II, which Lindblad Expeditions has chartered since 2010 and operated year-round along the Amazon River under the joint Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic brand. Both ships have recently been inducted into the Relais & Châteaux luxury hotel group in recognition of their commitment to local nature and culture and their exquisite Amazonian-Peruvian cuisine.
Lindblad Expeditions' growing fleet now comprises 20 owned, chartered, and mission-built vessels. The chartering of the Delfín III and the launch of these two new itineraries also double the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic offering on the Amazon, where the joint brand currently sails year-round with the Delfín II.
The brand remains dedicated to protecting the Amazon's biodiversity and supporting the Indigenous communities who have depended on and sustainably managed the rainforest for millennia. Through the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic Fund, the brand has invested nearly $500,000 in conservation projects in the region and has worked with Minga Peru to empower leaders and strengthen conservation efforts. These efforts range from training local youth in forest conservation and eco-entrepreneurship to planting 20,000 timber and fruit trees to provide food and economic resources, prevent soil degradation, and further enrich the Amazon rainforest.
