Viking celebrates its return to China, as the Viking Yi Dun has completed its maiden voyage from Shanghai to Hong Kong (Shenzhen). Viking's new itineraries include sailing along the Chinese coast, highlighting less-visited destinations and ports accessible only to Viking.
The itineraries will take place from September to November on the Viking Yi Dun - formerly Viking Sun - with a capacity for 930 passengers, a sister ship that has the same award-winning design and service as the other ocean-going ships in the Viking fleet.
“With its ancient history and rich culture, China is a phenomenal destination that many curious travelers have yet to have the opportunity to experience,” said Torstein Hagen, President and CEO of Viking. “For 15 years, we have introduced China to guests on our Yangtze River itineraries. Now, we are proud to offer these exclusive domestic voyages in China, and we look forward to welcoming people to this part of the world the Viking way.”
The launch of Viking's new China itineraries was commemorated in Shanghai with a celebration attended by local officials. Guests enjoyed cultural performances both on land and aboard the ship, which introduced them to the country's rich traditions.
Viking has also recently announced that the company will expand its Asia program in 2025, with new itineraries including Japan. Sailing from September to November, Viking's 2025 Asia voyages include:

The Viking Yi Dun
