Pandaw Cruises is set to begin construction of a new ship for the backwaters of Kerala, in southern India.
The Kochi Pandaw, with ten cabins and scheduled to depart in October 2025, has been specially designed for this route, while maintaining Pandaw's classic cabins and wraparound promenade decks. This will be Pandaw's fourth ship in India and reflects the growing demand for river cruises in the country.
The Kochi Pandaw will be built in a Kochi shipyard under the supervision of the Pandaw construction team and is the result of an interesting collaboration between Pandaw managers and specialized naval architects from Kochi.
Many Pandaw regulars are expected to combine this route with a river expedition on the Ganges or Brahmaputra, where Pandaw is well established as a leading operator. The backwaters of Kerala offer incredible cultural diversity, along with stunning scenery, beaches, and their own unique cuisine.
The Kochi Pandaw will operate a weekly eight-day circular itinerary from Kochi Port, visiting major cities and remote backwater areas along its 900 km of waterways connecting rivers and lakes. The cruise will offer visits to ancient churches, Hindu temples, artisan villages, and the legendary beaches of the Malabar Coast.
Cochin International Airport has flights connecting to Europe with Middle Eastern carriers and direct flights to most Southeast Asian cities, as well as domestic flights connecting to most major Indian cities.
