At a Disney fan event last Saturday, the company announced that Disney Cruise Line will build four new cruise ships to be launched between 2027 and 2031.
The company currently has 5 ships, and there are another 4 under construction, so this new order will bring the company to 13 by 2031.
“Disney Cruise Line is the highest-rated cruise line for families because it offers something for everyone. Expanding our fleet gives more people, in more parts of the world, the opportunity to experience a vacation at sea like only Disney can offer,” said Josh D’Amaro, President of Disney Experiences.
The names of the ships, their designs, and routes will be revealed later. These ships will also be built at Meyer Werft.
Ships under construction
Currently, the Disney Treasure is set to enter service in December from Port Canaveral, and will be followed by its twin, the Disney Destiny, at the end of 2025.
The Disney Adventure is a special order, as it is the former World Dream, a 208,000 GRT ship being prepared for the Asian market. It will debut in Singapore in 2025.
Oriental Land Co., owner and operator of the Disney parks in Tokyo, recently ordered the construction of another Wish-class ship for the Japanese market, which will arrive in 2028.
