Crystal has announced the appointment of Mario Parodi as Vice President of Route Planning and Port and Fuel Operations, effective September 1. Crystal stated that “he will be a vital addition to the team, bringing extensive experience and expertise that will greatly benefit the brand’s operations and strategic planning.”.
A native of Genoa, Italy, Parodi has extensive maritime experience, including his graduation from the Genoa Nautical Institute in 1985. He began his career in the Italian Navy before becoming a deck officer on cargo and cruise ships. After his time at sea, Parodi managed Evergreen's port operations at the Port of Genoa Voltri before moving to the United States. He spent eight years as a port agent before joining Prestige Cruise Holdings in 2008. In March 2015, he was appointed Vice President of Port Operations and Itinerary Planning for Norwegian Cruise Lines Holdings, where he was responsible for port operations and worldwide itinerary development for all three brands (Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises).
More recently, Mario worked at Atlas Ocean Voyages, where he gained valuable experience in expedition cruising that will be influential now that Crystal is looking to establish its own expedition fleet.
