Seabourn has officially christened the Seabourn Pursuit in a ceremony on Ngula Jar Island, Australia, on June 29, 2024.
With guests in zodiacs alongside the ship and the onboard team lined up along the decks, Traditional Owners Wunambal Gaambera christened the Seabourn Pursuit.
The celebration and christening ceremony were planned to honor the country and the Wunambal Gaambera people and the Kimberley region.
The guests participated in a Wunambal Gaambera welcoming ceremony, “jimɨrri”, to welcome the guests to the country and wish them a safe journey.
“Our smoking ceremony is done for visitors, so that the spirits of our elders do not follow them,” said Lillian Karadada, the traditional owner of Wunambal Gaambera.
The traditional owners of Wunambal Gaambera performed the “Junba”, a traditional song and dance that tells stories.
The guests also visited ancient rock art sites and had the opportunity to hear the area's cultural history. Artwork by Wunambal Gaambera artists was exhibited and offered for sale.
