AmaWaterways opened bookings earlier this year for the 2026 season on all its cruise products: Europe, Egypt, Asia, Colombia, Africa Safaris & Wildlife Cruises.
With the launch of nine new river vessels in the next three years, and more than 40 different itineraries across four continents, advance travel planners can choose from a variety of possibilities and take advantage of savings opportunities.
New ships
After announcing its plans to launch seven new ships (in Portugal, Egypt, Colombia and Europe) in 2024 and 2025, AmaWaterways will add two more in 2026.
AmaSofia will sail the Danube River from May 24, 2026, on the 14-night Magnificent Europe itinerary, following the route of emperors, kings and queens as it travels between Amsterdam and Budapest.
Meanwhile, AmaMaya will join AmaDara on the Mekong, running the seven-night Charms of the Mekong and Riches of the Mekong itineraries, which can be easily combined with pre- and post-cruise land packages to discover the ruins of Angkor Wat near Siem Reap, Cambodia, or the centers of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Ha Long Bay, Vietnam, or Bangkok, Thailand.
New land packages in Europe
AmaWaterways has added two new land packages to its seven-night Taste of Bordeaux cruises in 2026. Passengers can book the new four-night pre-cruise option and spend two nights in Madrid, enjoying panoramic city tours and walks through the Royal Palace and the old town before heading to the city of San Sebastián.
For passengers wishing to extend their food and wine cruise, there is the option of spending three nights in Paris. Stroll along the Champs-Élysées, visit the artists' haven of Montmartre, and conclude with a nighttime tour of the illuminated "City of Lights.".
New excursions
Guests cruising the Rhine and Moselle will enjoy some new excursions planned for 2026. The city of Utrecht has been added to the Captivating Rhine, Enchanting Rhine, and Rhine Christmas Markets itineraries.
This medieval city, the fourth largest in the Netherlands, offers visitors tree-lined canals, Christian monuments, and a university. Passengers can choose between a local beer tasting and a walking tour of the city.
The stopover in Strasbourg during the Christmas season has added two other excursion options: a walking tour of the spa town of Baden-Baden or a visit to France's oldest Christmas market in Strasbourg, which began in 1570.
On AmaWaterways' seven-night Vineyard of the Rhine & Moselle cruise, travelers will be able to explore Wiesbaden, famous for its Sekt (German champagne), and its "Kochbrunnen," a historic thermal spring dating back to Roman times.
Colombia
In January 2025, AmaWaterways will be the first major river cruise company to sail the Magdalena River in Colombia, using two new ships custom-designed for this historic route: the 60-seat AmaMagdalena and the 64-seat AmaMelodia.
In 2026, AmaWaterways will continue to enhance its immersive Colombia itineraries, “Magic of Colombia” and “Wonders of Colombia.” These seven-night cruises between Cartagena and Barranquilla offer Latin American cuisine, cultural excursions, and local entertainment. Optional packages are also available to visit Medellín and Panama City before or after the cruise.
In Egypt, the 11-night "Secrets of Egypt and the Nile" itinerary includes a seven-night cruise from Luxor, with stays in Cairo before and after the cruise. Optional packages to Dubai and Jordan are also available.
In Africa, passengers can explore the Chobe River aboard the Zambezi Queen, with five itineraries available, such as “Discover Africa” and “Stars of South Africa.” These combine a four-night cruise with safaris, city breaks, or train journeys, visiting iconic locations like Table Mountain and Victoria Falls.
