Last Sunday, the Port of Cartagena received a triple luxury stopover, closing the best week for cruise tourism in April with nine ships and a total of 2,500 tourists visiting Cartagena.
“This week alone there have been three double calls and two cruise ships visiting us for the first time, culminating on Sunday with the disembarkation of some 500 cruise passengers in the first triple call of the year,” highlighted the Vice President of the APC, Pedro Pablo Hernández, who recalled that “in 2024 there are six triple calls planned in April, May, October and November.”
The first cruise ship to arrive on Sunday was the Star Clipper, from the Star Clippers shipping company, consigned by Erhardt Mediterránea, at 8 a.m. from Ibiza and departed at 3 p.m. towards Malaga.
This ship accommodates around 170 guests who enjoy a four-masted sailing vessel with spacious cabins, two swimming pools decorated in a golden age style, and where they can participate in crew tasks such as lowering sails or steering the ship.
The next cruise ship docked at 12 noon, coming from Malaga, specifically the Scenic Eclipse, from Scenic Cruises, consigned by Agencia Marítima Blázquez, and will depart at 8 pm for Ibiza.
Designed to offer an ultra-luxury experience, with a capacity of up to 228 tourists, it operates using an electronic propulsion system, prioritizing safety, innovation, and environmental protection.
The last cruise will arrive at 1 p.m. with Erhardt Mediterranea. The ship, Le Champlain, from the du Ponant company, has a capacity for 184 passengers and is also characterized by its innovative materials and respect for the environment. A stylish and elegant vessel with a luxurious ambiance.
April ends with a stopover today, Monday the 29th, by the Aurora, from P&O Cruises, and on Tuesday the 30th, with the La Belle des Aceans, from the CroisiEurope shipping company.
It should be remembered that April was the best month for cruise ship calls in 2024, with 26 ships and nearly 27,000 tourists.
The forecast for 2024 is for approximately 150 calls and more than 210,000 passengers, with 17 first calls, 2 new shipping lines (Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, Explora Journeys), 25 double calls and 5 triple calls.
