Carnival Cruise Line has named actor Jonathan Bennett godfather of its new ship, the Carnival Firenze.
The Firenze cruise ship will be based in Long Beach, California, where it will be christened by the star of “Mean Girls” and “All My Children” on April 24. The ship will embark on its maiden voyage on April 25.
“Jonathan is a true ambassador for the Carnival brand. He travels with us, spent his honeymoon with us, and tells his friends and family to vacation with Carnival. He is kind and welcoming to everyone and embodies the Carnival style of fun,” said Christine Duffy, President of Carnival.
“After I sailed on the maiden voyage of the Carnival Firenze’s sister ship, the Carnival Venezia, last May, he told me it would be his dream to be the godfather of one of our ships, so how could I refuse such a request for such a great friend of Carnival?“.
“Although he’s not Italian, he’s living proof that anyone can have fun Italian-style when sailing on our Italian-themed ships, and we’re thrilled that he’s helping us welcome our newest addition to the Carnival fleet,” Duffy concluded.
“It is an incredible honor and I am very proud to know that I will always be part of the Carnival Firenze family,” saidJonathan Bennett.
“When I told Christine I would love to be a godfather on a Carnival cruise, I never thought she would take my request seriously. I have great respect for the Carnival team and how dedicated they are to caring for their guests, the ocean, and each other“.
“When I say Carnival is a great company and a great way to vacation, I mean it! I’m so excited not only to be the ship’s godfather, but also to be able to sail on the Carnival Firenze as a guest, now that Carnival’s Italian-style fun is coming to the West Coast,” said the Firenze’s new godfather.
