Norwegian Cruise Line has celebrated its return to southern Africa with its second and longest season aboard the Norwegian Dawn, which arrived in Port Louis, Mauritius, on January 20, 2024.

“We are delighted to be back in African waters after our successful 2022/2023 cruise season from Cape Town,” says Kevin Bubolz, Vice President and Managing Director Continental Europe, Middle East & Africa.
“By 2024, we have enhanced our cruise offering to reach new frontiers. We are offering not one, but two seasonal homeports, a wide variety of round-trip cruises, and new destinations for NCL across the continent, with itineraries that will not only whet the appetites of international and local travelers, but also solidify NCL as the only contemporary cruise line offering a selection of destinations and homeports in the region.”
The Norwegian Dawn's African season offers 12-day open itineraries departing from Port Louis, Mauritius, and Cape Town, South Africa. These itineraries include stops at such sought-after destinations as Réunion, known for its volcanic landscapes and rainforests; Nosy Be, Madagascar, famous for its coral reefs; Richards Bay, the gateway to South African safaris; and Mossel Bay, for beach lovers.
Travelers seeking cultural and wildlife experiences can embark on the Norwegian Dawn's 12-day round-trip voyages to South Africa and Namibia on February 1 and March 8, 2024, with stops in Mossel Bay and Durban in South Africa, and Luderitz and Walvis Bay in Namibia, before changing ports on March 20, 2024, sailing from Cape Town to Barcelona, Spain.
During the 21-day voyage along the west coast of Africa, it will stop in Luanda (Angola), São Tomé (São Tomé and Príncipe), Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Banjul (Gambia) and Dakar (Senegal) for the first time in the company's history.
Building on the success of its deployment in Africa and global demand for exotic travel, Norwegian will reinforce its commitment to the region when the Norwegian Dawn returns to homeports from Port Louis, Mauritius and Cape Town, South Africa, in the winter of 2024/25 and 2025/26 with a similar list of itineraries.
With a capacity for 2,340 guests in double rooms, the Norwegian Dawn has a total of 14 dining options, including Cagney's Steakhouse; the refined French restaurant Le Bistro and the Brazilian churrascaria Moderno, as well as nine bars and lounges.
Passengers can enjoy the Pulse Fitness Center and the Mandara Spa and Thermal Suite, with a thalassotherapy pool, steam room and sauna.
The trip includes accommodations, meals at the main restaurants and buffet snack bars, entertainment, and numerous onboard activities. Travelers who wish to personalize their cruise vacation can opt for the popular Free at Sea and receive five additional services, including specialty meal and beverage packages, free Wi-Fi, shore excursion credits, and much more.
