Silver Moon returns to Europe and heads towards Asia for its next cruises

After cancelling one cruise and changing one of the ship's itineraries due to the geopolitical situation in the Red Sea, Silversea Cruises is making more changes to the Silver Moon's program.

Sailing from Aqaba, Jordan, the ship was offering a ten-night cruise to Oman when the first itinerary changes were announced earlier this month.

At that point, Silversea decided to change the final port of the voyage, announcing that the ship would return to Aqaba instead of continuing on to the Middle East.

According to the company, the Silver Moon would remain on the northern side of the Red Sea. However, in a more recent statement, Silversea decided to make further changes to the ship's schedule, canceling its return to Jordan.

“Due to the recent military action that has led to an escalation of tensions in the region, we do not believe it is safe at this time to continue to Aqaba,” the company said in the letter sent to guests on board.

Instead, the Silver Moon headed to Europe, transiting the Suez Canal before arriving in Piraeus on January 16.

According to the statement, Silversea provided guests with air transport back home, as well as airport transport and hotel accommodation when needed.

“As always, the safety of our guests and crew is our priority,” Silversea stated.

With no passengers on board, the Silver Moon is now heading to Asia via South Africa and the Cape of Good Hope.

After cancelling its next cruise on January 26, the Silver Moon is expected to resume its regular cruise program on February 11, as the ship is expected to depart from Mumbai for an 18-night itinerary to Singapore that also includes visits to Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia.

The Silver Moon's program in Asia and the Indian Ocean, which will run until the end of May, includes several additional departures to destinations in the Far East and Southeast Asia, among others.
