Windstar Cruises intends to keep the Star Legend sailing in the region for another winter season.
Positive feedback, a surge in bookings and strong demand have led the company to enhance its winter deployment in the Mediterranean with new itineraries and opportunities to book longer trips in 2024/2025.
“On our inaugural voyage in December, every single travel advisor and guest on board told me 'this is great' as we enjoyed the sunny weather in Europe's busiest cities when few cruise lines sail European oceans,” explains Windstar Chief Commercial Officer Janet Bava.
“Our biggest takeaway from this winter season was that we were limited by the possibilities and experiences we could offer with just one itinerary—Rome to Barcelona and back—and we've responded to that with a variety of new itineraries for our guests to enjoy the most historic destinations in the Mediterranean this winter“.
Due to the positive reception of the inaugural voyages, Windstar will offer five Mediterranean itineraries for the 2025 season, in addition to three special holiday and event cruises. The expansion also allows guests to combine consecutive itineraries, providing the opportunity to experience different destinations.
New featured itineraries for 2024/2025
- Winter Italy and the Dalmatian Coast will set sail on five dates in 2024/25. The 8-day itinerary sails from Rome to Venice, with stops in Naples, Taormina (Sicily), one night in Dubrovnik (Croatia), a full day in Zadar (Croatia), and ends with one night in Venice.
- The Winter Riviera Europe cruise will have eight departure dates. From Rome, guests will sail to Livorno, Italy, for an overnight stay, followed by a day in Genoa and then Nice, France, before concluding with an overnight stay in Barcelona.
- Winter in Italy and the Adriatic, an 8-day cruise, will take place on a single departure date. Leaving Athens, the yacht will sail through the narrow Corinth Canal to Itea (Delphi) before spending the night in Corfu. It will then proceed to Crotone (Italy), spend the night in Taormina (Sicily), enjoy a day in Naples, and conclude the voyage in Rome.
- Winter Breaks in Southern Spain will be a 9-day round-trip journey from Barcelona, offered on four departure dates. Starting with an overnight stay in Barcelona, there will be plenty of time to explore the city center before sailing to Valencia, Cartagena, Málaga (overnight), Gibraltar (UK), Palma, and returning to Barcelona.
- Winter in Croatia and Greece sets sail on March 26, 2025, for an 8-day voyage from Venice to Athens. An overnight stay in Venice allows guests to explore the historic city from the ship's dock. Ports of call include Koper (Slovenia), Zadar and Dubrovnik (Croatia), Kotor (Montenegro), Delphi (Greece), and the Corinth Strait and Canal.

- A Christmas holiday cruise will sail from Rome to Barcelonafrom December 23 to 30, 2024. It includes an overnight stay in Livorno, offering the opportunity to attend Christmas Eve Mass at the Duomo, followed by stops in Genoa and Nice before concluding in Barcelona with an overnight stay. Festive decorations, traditional dishes, and activities are also featured.
- The New Year's cruise departs from Barcelona, round trip, on December 30, 2024, and returns on January 8, 2025. New Year's Eve is spent overnight in Palma de Mallorca. The cruise then continues to Cartagena, with an overnight stay in Málaga, stops in Gibraltar (United Kingdom), Valencia, and the return to Barcelona.
