Viking will feature three new itineraries, the first of their kind, providing guests with exclusive access to China in 2024.
The new voyages last between 10 and 20 days and explore iconic cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. Each itinerary also includes domestic sailing along the Chinese coast, highlighting rarely seen destinations and ports accessible only to Viking.
The new voyages will take place from September to November on the Viking Yi Dun (formerly Viking Sun), a sister ship that boasts the same award-winning design and service as the rest of the Viking fleet's ocean-going vessels.
The Chinese-flagged Viking Yi Dun will be the first ship specifically dedicated to the international market to offer domestic cruises in China. Each voyage will feature The Viking Way, with immersive experiences designed to introduce guests to China's history and culture, including lectures, Chinese-inspired cuisine, and destination experts.

New trips to China
- Wonders of China – 20 Days; Round Trip to Beijing: This 20-day cruise itinerary showcases China's top attractions. Guests can meet a Tibetan family in their home, walk along the Great Wall, and see the Terracotta Warriors. Guests also experience the scenic Dongtou Coast and have the opportunity to explore Gulangyu Island in Xiamen, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Shenzhen, a UNESCO Design City.
- Classical China and the Coast – 15 days; Beijing, Xi'an – Hong Kong (Shenzhen): This voyage combines the experiences of China Discovery with the opportunity to see the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Terracotta Warriors, and other iconic landmarks. While sailing along the Chinese coast, guests can experience a diversity of languages, cultures, and cuisines.
- China Discovery – 10 days; Shanghai – Hong Kong (Shenzhen): This 10-day itinerary allows guests to explore the Buddhist shrines of Zhoushan and the Dongtou cliffs, follow in the footsteps of 19th-century European diplomats on Gulangyu Island in Xiamen, or sample Cantonese dim sum in Shenzhen.
The Viking Yi Dun
Dedicated specifically to exploring destinations in China, with an onboard experience that complements guests' discoveries on land, the Viking Yi Dun is a sister ship to Viking's award-winning ocean fleet.
Classified by Cruise Critic as “small ships”, Viking’s ocean-going vessels have a gross tonnage of 47,800 tons, with 465 cabins accommodating 930 guests; the ships feature all veranda cabins, Scandinavian design, light-filled public spaces and abundant al fresco dining options.
