Borealis set sail yesterday, January 7, 2024, from Southampton for the company's 2024 World Cruise.
The Borealis, with a capacity for 1,320 passengers, will make a round trip itinerary from its home port in the United Kingdom and will travel around the world for 101 nights.
According to Fred. Olsen, the trip is highlighted by a three-day cruise along the Florida coast, during which guests can enjoy beaches and the Kennedy Space Center, as part of visits to Port Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale, and Key West.
Passengers on the Borealis will also have the opportunity to enjoy wildlife in the rainforests of Costa Rica, according to the company, or to experience local cultures and volcanic sights in Hawaii, with stops in Golfito, Puerto Caldera, Honolulu, Hilo and Maui.
The itinerary includes the islands of French Polynesia, as well as the diverse landscapes, famous vineyards and waterways of New Zealand.
With a total of 37 destinations, the cruise also includes visits to different regions, such as Australia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.
The Asian leg of the trip is highlighted by Alotau, a less common destination for Fred. Olsen cruises in Papua New Guinea.
The global itinerary offers opportunities to see diverse marine and wildlife species, the company noted. “The waters surrounding Hawaii, for example, are some of the best for whale watching,” it added.
“During the cruise, the Borealis will also sail to many of the world's most iconic landmarks, including the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House, the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, and others“.
The voyage also includes more than five overnight stopovers in key destinations, plus full transits through the Panama Canal and the Suez Canal.
Once the itinerary is completed, the Borealis will return to Southampton on April 17, 2024.
