Costa Brava closes the cruise season with 53 port calls

The ports of Palamós and Roses have welcomed cruise ships from both the American and European markets. This year, 50% of the cruise ships visiting the Costa Brava are from the American market and the remaining 50% from Europe. Additionally, eight cruise ships have made their first port of call on the Costa Brava this year.

The port of Palamós has received 52,000 passengers, 7% more than last year, and 49 port calls, seven fewer than in 2022.

Three cruise lines have accounted for 71% of the season's port calls: the British Marella Cruises with 23 calls (47%), and the American Seabourn Cruise Lines with 7 calls (14%) and Windstar Cruises with 5 (10%).

As for inaugural cruise ship calls, seven have been received, three more than in 2022. Thus, the cruise ships that have arrived for the first time in Palamós have been the following: World Traveller, Marella Voyager, Azamara Onward, Viking Sky, Seabourn Pursuit, Silver Nova and Viking Sea.

The port of Roses closed the 2023 season with 300 passengers and four port calls, two fewer than initially planned due to cancellations caused by bad weather. The season was characterized by the arrival of smaller cruise ships that docked in the port.

Regarding nationalities, the main cruise tourists have been Americans (35%), French (34%), Swiss (9%), Canadians (7%), Belgians (4%), British (4%), Polish (2%) and other nationalities (5%).

Highlights include the debut of the Portuguese company Mystic Cruises with the inaugural stop of the World Navigator cruise ship, the loyalty program of the Seadream Yacht Club , and the return of the CroisiEurope , which makes two stops with the ship La Belle des Océans.
