Today, construction work begins simultaneously on the cruise terminals in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura by Global Ports Canarias.
The construction of specialized cruise facilities will contribute positively to the transformation of the sector, with a significant impact on the local economy. It will optimize the guest experience in port, while simultaneously promoting the sustainable development of the cruise industry in the islands.
The project has been entrusted to SATOCAN, a leading Canary Islands construction company. The company combines its port experience with a proven track record of success in carrying out all types of construction projects throughout the archipelago.
Global Ports Canarias demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and the environment by building four cruise terminals focused on recycled and ecological materials to minimize waste, preserving natural resources and habitats and minimizing environmental impact.
In addition, cutting-edge technologies and innovative practices will be incorporated to achieve a minimal carbon footprint and the maximization of renewable resources.
The planned constructions will be an example of eco-efficient sustainable infrastructure for the cruise sector, featuring a functional design in favor of sustainability by combining solar energy, recycled materials and waste management.
All of this will have a positive impact on each city, resulting in a significant increase in tourism on the islands and sustainable and responsible local economic development.
Las Palmas: Efficiency and innovation
The largest project will be carried out in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, one of Spain's busiest cruise ports. The terminal will be located at the Santa Catalina dock, featuring an innovative two-story building with three boarding bridges capable of serving up to four cruise ships simultaneously.
The terminal focuses on efficiency and operational excellence to provide comprehensive services to both transit and homeport cruise ships. The new terminal will house retail and dining areas.
Lanzarote's dual cruise terminals; Naos and Mármoles.
In Lanzarote, the construction will take place at the two specialized cruise ship docks located in Arrecife with the aim of operating several ships at the same time.
On one hand, the Naos Cruise Terminal will consist of a single-story building of 1,106m2 that will provide services for both transit and home port operations, focusing on operational efficiency and improved safety.
On the other hand, the Mármoles Cruise Terminal will be a modern, modular facility of 556 m² capable of serving up to three cruise ships simultaneously. This facility will also be supported by a 426 m² satellite cruise terminal offering various auxiliary services to both passengers and crew.
The innovative Fuerteventura terminal
Finally, the Puerto del Rosario terminal, a short distance from the center of Fuerteventura, will consist of a modular design of 924 m2. The terminal will include a restaurant with an open terrace.
All terminals have been designed to ensure accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility and to be able to adapt to new market demands that may arise in the future.
Advanced safety measures have been implemented and accessible spaces have been created to ensure that all passengers can enjoy their experience.
