The port of Southampton has welcomed the first stop of the MSC Euribia in the United Kingdom to begin its winter voyages around northern Europe.

The arrival on Friday was celebrated with a traditional exchange of shields between the ship's captain, Captain Christopher Pugh, and local authorities.
The ship will offer sailing options to Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France until April 2024.
Antonio Paradiso, Managing Director – UK & Ireland, MSC Cruises, said: “The arrival of MSC Euribia in the UK is an exciting moment, welcoming another ship from our fleet to the port of Southampton. After seeing the success of flight-free cruising on MSC Virtuosa, our new flagship will give British travelers another opportunity to explore a variety of destinations in the comfort of a cruise.”
MSC Euribia is the second ship in the MSC Cruises fleet powered by liquefied natural gas, the company said.
Steve Masters, Port Captain of the Port of Southampton, added: “We are delighted to welcome MSC Cruises’ new flagship to Southampton as its home port and look forward to working with the MSC team during its winter voyages in Northern Europe. Having launched our Ready for Tomorrow sustainability strategy earlier this year, it is fantastic that MSC Cruises shares our sustainability values by powering its new fleet with liquefied natural gas, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions.”
