MSC Group 's cruise division will open its first office in Saudi Arabia in November to house the commercial, sales and marketing functions of both MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys.
The new office, which will be based in Jeddah, further demonstrates the division's commitment to supporting the country's plans for its tourism sector.
The plan was revealed by Pierfrancesco Vago, chief executive of the MSC Group's cruise division, while attending the United Nations World Tourism Organization's World Tourism Day conference in Riyadh.
MSC has been present there since 1996, Vago explained. Its shipping business has grown exponentially and has made a significant contribution to the local economy, he added.
“We are very pleased that, in the leisure sector, cruises are becoming increasingly popular in Saudi Arabia and, as such, are playing an increasingly important role for us,” said the CEO.
“More and more Saudi Arabian citizens and residents are drawn to the cruise experience, making it important for us to have a physical presence in the country. We are excited to open our new office, which will be dedicated to selling MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys to our local customers“.
