The president of the Port Authority of the Bay of Cadiz has presented the renewal of the mobile application DISCOVER CADIZ, developed by the port body in 2019 to improve the experience of cruise passengers and crew arriving in the city of Cadiz.
Thanks to the collaboration of the Tourism Department of the City Council of Cádiz and the Cádiz Open Shopping Center association, new routes and updated information on restaurants and shops have been added to make it more attractive and accessible for any citizen or tourist.
The aim was to improve the experience of cruise passengers and crew arriving in the city of Cadiz and to help port companies improve the services offered to port users, as well as to further enhance the port's image in the specific cruise sector.
Kate Bonner, the Port Authority's Commercial Director, who led the project, explained how the main feature of the application is geolocation, which allows cruise passengers to know at all times where they are and how far away they are from any point of interest in the city and, most importantly, how long and far they are from the cruise ship and how to get back to the dock.
The app also features an interactive map of Cadiz with the main points of interest and a virtual map of taxi stands and how to get to them, as well as including telephone numbers of taxi driver associations.
Regarding services, it includes wifi points, consulates, post offices, public toilets, tourist offices, hospitals, pharmacies, churches, bus lines, etc.
It also includes 7 routes through Cadiz (Castles and bastions, Shippers of the Indies, Cadiz Constitution of 1812, Phoenician Gadir, Accessible, Healthy, Medieval Enclosure and Puerta de Tierra); as well as routes through the province (wineries, museums, flamenco, beaches, etc.) and restaurants and shopping.
The application is completely free and is available for iOS and Android operating systems; it can be downloaded now from Google Play and the Apple Store in the language your phone is set to.
