A-ROSA is expanding its river cruise fleet for the 2024 season with the addition of two new ships. Starting in April, the two 110-meter premium vessels will initially sail the Rhine River under the names A-ROSA ALEA and A-ROSA CLEA, providing additional capacity on its most popular itineraries.
Starting with the 2025 season, one ship will be transferred to the Seine, sailing from the heart of Paris to Le Havre on the Atlantic coast. At that time, the current ship on the Seine, A-ROSA VIVA, will return to the Rhine.
In 2026, the second ship will move to the Gironde/Garonne, in the French region of Bordeaux, both rivers being completely new to A-ROSA's itineraries.
Jörg Eichler, CEO of A-ROSA Flussschiff GmbH, comments: “We are very pleased to have ordered two more ships for our fleet in the short term, and this move really couldn't have come at a better time. We anticipate that by the end of the 2023 season, we will have set new records for guests and revenue, surpassing even the previous record year of 2019. This season, we have also consistently achieved high occupancy levels on all sailings, and it seems highly likely that we will set a record level of over 90% cabin capacity sold for 2023. Furthermore, we expect to end the year with a year-on-year increase in revenue of over 40%.”

The two new ships will sail the Rhine both north to Amsterdam and Rotterdam and south to Basel and Strasbourg. They will also regularly sail the popular Moselle route to Trier. Itineraries aboard the A-ROSA ALEA and A-ROSA CLEA will be available for booking from October 2023.
Each ship can accommodate up to 138 guests in 16-square-meter cabins with French balconies on decks two and three or windows on deck one, plus two or four 24-square-meter suites, depending on the ship. In addition, each ship will feature a hot tub, fitness room, and three different lounges, including an outdoor area at the bow.
These two ships will follow the same successful culinary concept offered by A-ROSA ALVA in the Portuguese Douro, with buffet breakfast and lunch, while for dinner, starters and desserts are chosen from the buffet and the main course is served comfortably at the table.
