As Crystal Cruises prepares to unveil its ships this summer, the Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony will introduce luxurious design concepts in collaboration with international partners. These range from redesigned public spaces, staterooms, and suites to exclusive bedding fit for royalty.

“We are delighted to welcome Crystal guests back and unveil a new look that combines the best of its renowned past with a fresh vision for a bright future,” said Cristina Levis, CEO of A&K Travel Group. “Fresh colors, unique textures, and first-class tangible elements create an atmosphere that evokes timeless leisure moments and will leave guests with memories to last a lifetime.”
Tillberg Design of Sweden (TDoS) was chosen as the lead designer for Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony with projects encompassing public spaces, places to eat, as well as the Aurōra Spa.
“We are delighted to once again be entrusted by Crystal, this time with a thoughtful and sophisticated rebranding of its rich heritage,” says Fredrik Johansson, partner and CEO of TDoS. “We are working closely with Crystal’s management to ensure its iconic fleet remains the highest-rated by guests and profitable for owners.”
For the redesign of some rooms and suites, Crystal has enlisted the cruise ship architecture firm GEM. The new concept features neutral tones and high-end fixtures complemented by pastel accents and shades of gray and beige.
“It has been a pleasure to lead the design of some of the rooms and suites for Crystal. Our vision was to create a refined space for guests that embodies an ambiance of contemporary and classic elements, while complementing the existing collection of beloved accommodations,” said GEM Managing Director Lorenzo Mortola.
“Our main goal was to merge smaller cabins into larger suites offering separate living and sleeping areas, spacious bathrooms with walk-in showers, and double sinks and faucets. With more space, guests will have all the amenities they expect on a high-end cruise ship, while also enjoying the best comforts of home.”
With staterooms and suites on the Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony, accommodating 740 and 606 guests respectively, travelers will have a variety of accommodation options to choose from. Both ships will feature two new stateroom categories: the Crystal Penthouse Junior Suite and the Ocean View Single Stateroom, providing an option for solo travelers without incurring additional single supplements. These new categories will also increase the availability of the Sapphire Suite.
Every component of the redesign was carefully considered. The project architect, Adriana Granato, adjunct professor of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan and Studio Ibsen, led the team that illustrated all the renderings of the new rooms and suites.
“Being part of this unprecedented return and renovation of such an iconic brand is a true honor,” said Granato. “I’m so excited to see the renderings come to life when Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony are launched. I know guests are going to love everything about them.”
The suites will feature high-quality bedding with a bespoke collection from Jesurum 1870. Crystal is the first in the industry to collaborate and work exclusively with this Venetian-born brand. Guests staying in Aquamarine categories and above can expect a better night's sleep.
“We are honored that Crystal has chosen us for this project and proud to be part of their new journey,” said Paola Cimolai, Managing Director of Jesurum 1870.“The elegant accommodations combined with our exquisite linens are sure to provide Crystal’s guests with the perfect night’s sleep.”
In collaboration with La Bottega, a renowned curator of in-room amenities, Ortigia was chosen to supply soap and fragrance products on board. Founded in Sicily, Ortigia's products are native to its homeland and inspired by the aromas and elements of Italy's tropical region.
“I worked with Ortigia in a previous role, and I’m so in love with the brand that I had to bring it aboard our Crystal ships,” Levis added. “We’re also working on a second, alternative line that will be available in 2024.”
The planned trips will cover the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Canada and New England, Alaska, the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal, the Middle East, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
