Celestyal participated in the media presentation of the Central Macedonia region as a year-round tourist destination, held on May 29th at the Palacio de los Duques Hotel in Madrid. The event concluded with a gastronomic tasting of local Greek products.
The event was attended by around 30 journalists who enjoyed the presentation, which included the participation of the Greek Ambassador to Spain, Ilias Fotopoulos; the director of the Greek Tourism Office in Madrid, Kalliopi Kourousia; representatives from the Central Macedonia region, Leonidas Tsiadis, from the Halkidiki Tourism Board, George Vroutzas, and from the UNWTO, Nikolaos Golfinopoulos; and Noelia Domínguez, Country Manager and Sales of Celestyal Cruises.
Greece is currently one of the most popular holiday destinations for Spaniards. This is hardly surprising, given that the country boasts 299 museums and historical sites, 17 of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites; 18,400 km of coastline and 6,000 islands; and an excellent cuisine with 100 products with protected designation of origin.
The region of Macedonia is one of the 13 regions that make up the country, located in northern Greece, and whose capital is Thessaloniki. It's an area steeped in history, with influences from the Macedonians, Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans. It boasts monuments, monasteries with thousands of years of history, local festivals, landscapes, beaches, and is also considered the gastronomic capital of the country.
Celestyal operates from four ports: Piraeus, Lavrio, Thessaloniki, and Limassol. The company added Thessaloniki as a port of embarkation in 2022 for its 7-day Idyllic Aegean itinerary, while the In the Footsteps of St. Paul itinerary also includes a stop in this destination. During the event, Noelia Domínguez, Country Manager and Sales of Celestyal, presented their itineraries for 2024: the traditional and award-winning 7-day cruises Idyllic Aegean, Eclectic Aegean, the award-winning Three Continents, or In the Footsteps of St. Paul; as well as the 3 or 4-night Iconic Aegean, the special Christmas and New Year cruise, and the new 4 and 5-night Legendary Aegean itineraries.
Celestyal operates 3 ships, the Celestyal Olympia for mini-cruises, the Celestyal Crystal does 7-night itineraries and the newly acquired Celestyal Journey, which will begin operating the company's 7-night itineraries from September 2nd.
