Devastating floods in Italy have forced Explorer of the Seas to change its port of embarkation just days before setting sail.
The Emilia-Romagna region of Italy has suffered severe flooding from torrential rains in recent days, with more than 20 rivers overflowing their banks. There have been over 280 landslides and at least 13 people have died.
Royal Caribbean International contacted guests who booked on board the Explorer of the Seas on May 21, 2023, to notify them of an emergency port of embarkation change due to flooding that has caused safety issues at the original port of embarkation.
Instead of Ravenna, guests for this trip will embark from Trieste, but Royal Caribbean has facilitated the transfers.
