Resilient Lady will depart from Piraeus on its maiden voyage on May 14.
Virgin's third ship had been delivered by Fincantieri Sestri Ponente in early December, but the shipping company delayed its entry into service.
“I am delighted that this day has finally arrived and that Resilient Lady has officially joined our award-winning fleet,” said Tom McAlpin, CEO of Virgin Voyages. He added that the line has a “high return rate, with up to 40% of our sailors rebooking their next cruise while onboard with us.”
The Resilient Lady will sail to and from Athens on two different seven-night itineraries. “Greek Island Glow” visits Santorini, Rhodes, Bodrum (Turkey), and Mykonos, while “Adriatic Sea & Greek Gems” stops in Split and Dubrovnik (Croatia), Kotor (Montenegro), and Corfu (Greece).
The Resilient Lady will debut new shows, including five new shows, two new evenings at The Manor, onboard parties, live musical performances and a festival stage.
The company is also introducing new food and beverage offerings. Razzle Dazzle After Dark is a menu developed in collaboration with chef Eric Haugen.
And to celebrate the launch of Resilient Lady, the brand presents “Opa Hour,” an ode to Greek culinary tradition. Held in the Dock and Dock House on all three ships, Opa Hour will offer a Greek-inspired food and beverage menu, in addition to the regular offerings.
After its inaugural season in Greece, the Resilient Lady will reposition in Melbourne (Victoria) and sail around Australia and New Zealand from December 11 to March 27.
