Construction is progressing on Adora Cruises' second new ship, which is being built at the Waigaoqiao shipyard in Shanghai, China. According to the shipyard, the outfitting of the cruise ship began with a ceremony on December 29.
Zhou Oi, deputy general manager of Waigaoquiao Shipbuilding, attended the event, along with several department heads.
This 135,000-ton vessel, the second large cruise ship built in the country, is currently unnamed. Along with the company's first newly built ship, scheduled to enter service in 2023, this second cruise ship, with an expected delivery date at the end of 2025, will offer year-round cruises in Asia, departing from various ports.
It is currently known by the project name H1509, which is assumed to be the hull number. Based on Carnival's Vista-class design, the H1509 will accommodate 5,000 passengers at double occupancy and is designed to cater to Chinese customers, featuring a shopping plaza, a two-deck dining area, and much more.
In addition to the two new constructions, Adora Cruises acquired two existing cruise ships, the Costa Atlantica and the Costa Mediterranea, which for now are anchored off the island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean.
